Pork and Beef Shares

Pork Shares - Available Now

A brief explanation about pork and beef shares.

Below is deposit information for pork and beef shares. This deposit is required to guarantee your share and will be deducted from the final price of the animal.

We sell portions of live animals, but facilitate butchery, cutting and wrapping.

A pork share is one half of a pig.
If you would like a whole pig you should deposit for two shares.

A beef share is a quarter of a cow (one half of one half of a cow).
If you would like a whole cow you should deposit for four shares

We sell animals by hanging weight.
Pork is $5.00 per pound and typically weighs around 220# for a whole pig
Beef is $6.50 per pound and typically ranges from 500-550# for a whole cow

Buyers are also responsible for paying:

·        Your % (¼, ½, or all) of the slaughter fee (~$110 per pork, ~$170 per beef)

·        Cut & wrap costs at ~$1.10/lb hanging weight that are charged by the processor.

·        Extra processing costs such as sausage making and bacon.

Processing costs were recorded as of January 2024 and may change.

After the deposit has been paid, your contact information will be given to the cut/wrap facility so they may get in touch with you about specific cutting and processing instructions.

Meat will come packaged and frozen by the processor.

We originally started out as a chicken farm. We’ve since moved on to other things, but that means we now have space for beef and pork.

Our animals are free range and raised in the lush dike lands of Brownsmead, Oregon.

Information on pork shares is to the right.
Information on the pigs we grow is below.

Duroc-Berkshire-Kunekune Mix

Similar to an Idaho Pasture Pig, these pigs are well adapted to grazing. They grow faster than a Kunekune but with less tendency to root. The meat resembles that of the Duroc and Berkshire, both pigs well known for their flavor.

Heritage Red Wattle Hogs

Red wattle hogs are a heritage breed from the United States that was bred specifically
for their foraging abilities as well as their well-marbled and flavorful meat. They are a deep red in color and have distinctive wattles on their necks.

Scottish Highland Cows

We have a growing herd of Scottish Highland Cows.

Scottish Highlands are a rugged and shaggy breed of cow that thrive in the cold and wet conditions found here on the North Coast.

Cows take a long time to grow. As such, our first beef should be ready in the Fall of 2024.

Jersey Steers

Although they are also a few years out, some Jersey Steers are in the pipeline. Although typically a milk cow, Jersey steers, raised for beef, are often described as having some of the best beef flavor of any cow.
