Papalo

Also known as Papaloquelite, butterfly leaf, or Papalo is another herb that is native to Mexico. It has large blueish-green leaves and flavor that is reminiscent of cilantro. It can grow to be several feet tall, and unlike cilantro it doesn’t bolt in the summer heat. It is quite a bit more pungent than cilantro, so it is recommended that you start with around a quarter as much as you would typically use. It is typically used fresh and can be used in any of the ways you would use cilantro, or as we discussed in our last post, pipicha.
