Snap Pea Ideas
Snap peas are a green pea that can be eaten in its entirety, minus the green stem at the top. Many people enjoy peas fresh, either dipped in a favorite salad dressing or mixed in with a salad. Today though we are going to discuss sauteed peas. One of the most common problems people have with cooking vegetables is overcooking them. When cooking peas you want to saute them at a medium high heat for just a couple of minutes. The peas will turn a bright green and become tender, but still have a bit of crispness to them when you bite in. If you keep cooking they will become soft and mushy.
Sauteed Snap Peas
1 tsp. garlic
1 T butter
1 pound snap peas, cleaned
Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
Heat the butter over medium heat until melted. Add the garlic and saute for 30 seconds to a minute until the garlic is cooked. Add the peas and continue to cook until bright green and tender but still crisp. Season with salt and pepper and serve immediately.
Note: Since the peas can be eaten raw, its okay if you under cook them the first time. Make sure to sample frequently as they cook to judge the both the tenderness and the seasoning.
